Seahawks supporting US Soccer in World Cup Qualifier

Seahawks wide receivers Doug Baldwin (left) and Golden Tate (right) will be among the many USA fans in attendance tonight for the other football played at CenturyLink Field. Seattle hosts Panama in the city’s first World Cup Qualifier in 37 years tonight at 7:00 pm PT on ESPN.

Pete Carroll and the Seahawks opened minicamp today, which will run consecutively through Thursday, but even in his post practice press conference he couldn’t contain his excitement for fellow head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and the US Men’s National Team.

The United States is in the middle of a stretch of three World Cup Qualifiers having beaten Jamaica in a dramatic 2-1 stoppage-time victory with local Seattle Sounders FC product, Brad Evans, scoring the winning goal. Their next match will be in Salt Lake City, Utah, as they face Honduras on June 18.

As a play on the way Russell Wilson finishes every interview, Coach Carroll finished his press conference today in poignant fashion:
