Quarter notes: Third

In a nutshell: After Russell Wilson led a sixth consecutive scoring drive to open the second half, the defensive scored on a 75-yard yard interception return by free safety Earl Thomas and so did the special teams on an 81-yard punt return by Golden Tate. Seahawks 44-7.

Player of the quarter: Rookie Robert Turbin, who started for Marshawn Lynch, scored on a 25-yard run on the first possession of the half. Turbin carried three times for 50 yards on the four-play, 80-yard drive to get the rout rolling.

Plays of the quarter: Three big ones – two by the Seahawks’ defense and Tate’s long return. After the Chiefs drove to the Seahawks’ 19-yard line, rookie defensive end Cordarro Law delivered a fumble-forcing sack of Matt Cassel and strong safety Jeron Johnson recovered at the 8. After the Chiefs drove to the Seahawks’ 25-yard line, Thomas picked Cassel and returned it 75 yards for a TD. Then came Tate’s punt return.

Number of the quarter: 21 and 44. The number of points the Seahawks scored in the quarter, and the number of points they had through three quarters.
