A sign of the new times

Head Coach Pete Carroll’s “I’M IN!” message to players hangs above the entrance to the team’s indoor practice field at VMAC.

The team’s logo and even colors have been altered as part of the new Nike uniforms the Seahawks will wear this season. But coach Pete Carroll’s message to the players remains the same – it’s just bigger and bolder.

The “I’M IN!” signs hanging above the doorways which lead to the outdoor and indoor practice fields at Virginia Mason Athletic Center needed to be changed to include the new logo, so Carroll and staff decided to make it change for the better.

For starters, the signs are larger than the ones they replaced – as wide as the double doors they are perched above. Carroll’s trademark message on the signs the players slap before heading to each practice also is in larger type.

“It just looks cleaner,” football operations coordinator Matt Capurro said.

But the message remains as clear as ever.

This “I’M IN!” message appears above an entrance to the team’s weight room.

This “I’M IN!” message hangs above a second entrance to the team’s indoor practice field at VMAC, adjacent to the Seahawks Ring of Honor hallway.

Another “I’M IN!” message hangs above the exit from the team weight room to the outdoor practice fields.

Seahawks championship banners from years past line the ceiling of the indoor practice field, with Carroll’s “I’M IN!” message highlighted at the entrance.
