By any name, he’s always been Chad Johnson

Chad Johnson is no longer Chad Ochocino. That’s the official word from Harvey Greene, senior vice president of media relations for the Dolphins.

Johnson, the wide receiver from Oregon State who legally changed his name in 2008 to match his uniform number (85), signed with the Dolphins this offseason. He has, according to an email from Greene, “legally and officially changed his name back to Chad Johnson.”

It’s pertinent, of course, because the Dolphins will host the Seahawks on Nov. 25.

Johnson also has played for the Bengals (2001-2010) and Patriots (2011) during a career in which he has been voted to six Pro Bowls. He caught nine passes for 138 yards in a 2007 game against the Seahawks, and had a three-catch, 84-yard game against them in 2003.
