Seahawks get two nationally televised games
When the Green Bay Packers visit CenturyLink Field during the 2012 season, the whole football world will be watching.
The “Monday Night Football” matchup against reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers and the rest of a Packers team that went 15-1 last season is among the highlights of the Seahawks’ schedule that was announced today by the NFL.
The Packers come to town for a Sept. 24 game that will conclude the third weekend of the NFL season.
The Seahawks’ only other nationally televised game is on Thursday night, Oct. 18, against the NFC West champion 49ers in San Francisco. That game follows an Oct. 14 matchup with the New England Patriots at CenturyLink Field.
The Seahawks also will open their 2012 season where the 2011 season ended – in Arizona against the Cardinals. They will close the season as they did in 2010 – with a home game against the St. Louis Rams.
In between, the Seahawks’ Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills will be played in Toronto on Dec. 16 and have 1:05 p.m. kickoff in Seattle.
The Seahawks also will play back-to-back road games three times – Sept. 30 at St. Louis and Oct. 7 at Carolina; the Oct. 18 game against the 49ers that is followed by an Oct. 28 game at Detroit; and Nov. 25 at Miami and Dec. 2 at Chicago.
The team’s bye week comes in Week 11 (Nov. 18), the latest for the Seahawks since they had their bye on Nov. 19 in 2000.
