Hines Ward announced his retirement today after 14 seasons with the Steelers.
And that has what to do with the Seahawks? Ward, the Steelers’ all-time leading receiver, will live in infamy in franchise history because of his performance against the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
Ward caught five passes for 123 yards in the Steelers’ 21-10 victory at Ford Field in Detroit. His MVP evening included catching a 43-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter from fellow receiver Antwaan Randle El off a reverse and also a 37-yard reception on a third-and-28 play to set up a TD just before the half.
MVP? That’s right; Ward was voted the award in a game where no one else really stood out. I know, because I cast my vote for him.
