Strong on the goal line
While there’s much to be frustrated with during this young season, at least the Seahawks’ goal-line defense has been stellar.
Seattle forced a turnover on downs on the 1-yard line during Sunday’s Steelers game, and that’s just the beginning. The two opponents so far in 2011 have run 21 offensive plays from inside the 10-yard line, with more than half of those — 11 snaps — going for no gain or a loss.
Of the eight drives that have crossed inside the 10-yard line this season, the Seahawks have forced four field goals and one turnover on downs, meaning opponents have scored just three touchdowns, for a mere 38 percent touchdown success rate.
