Good morning. Here’s what’s “out there” about the Seahawks for today, Aug. 4:

Chris Wells of the News Tribune checks in with Isaiah Stanback. The former QB from Garfield High School and the University of Washington is looking to add his versatile skills to the Seahawks’ passing game – from the other side, as a receiver. Offers cornerback Roy Lewis, Stanback’s teammate at the UW and now with the Seahawks: “I mean, the guy has spent the majority of his life playing quarterback, so he was throwing to wide receivers. I’m pretty sure he has some type of insight on what receivers do, but to go out there and play the position and make the transition, he does a phenomenal job.”

Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times catches up with Matt Hasselbeck, the Seahawks’ QB the past 10 seasons who signed with the Tennessee Titans in free agency last week. Just getting there, it turns out, turned into an adventure. Offers O’Neil: “Matt Hasselbeck had a hard time leaving Seattle. The trouble had nothing to do with his 10 years as a Seahawk, though that didn’t make it any easier. His difficulties going to Tennessee were of a quite literal variety. His flight was delayed in Salt Lake City and he was rerouted to Phoenix, where he ended up spending the night before arriving on Friday, the day he signed a three-year contract with the Titans.”

Mike Sando of has his “Camp Confidential” report on the Seahawks after visiting training camp. One of his more-promising/more-concerning observations: “Seven of the 11 cornerbacks on the roster are at least 6 feet tall. Three are 5-foot-11 and one is 5-10. The biggest, Brandon Browner, goes 6-4 and 221 pounds. Impressive? Perhaps, but only three of the 11 have started an NFL game, and none of the three with starting experience stands taller than 5-11.”

Here at, we take a look at the new-look roster — which is even newer because the team made 11 more roster moves after the story was posted yesterday, including adding veteran kicker Jeff Reed.
