On paper, the Seahawks appear to be at a disadvantage to the Saints. They do, however, have a few intangibles in their favor.
Not only will New Orleans fly across the country on Thursday for Saturday’s playoff contest at Qwest Field, but the matchup will also mark the Saints’ third game in 12 days — and second road game in that span. New Orleans played last Monday night in Atlanta before coming home to face Tampa Bay on Sunday, and now the team is flying more than 2,000 miles to Seattle for Saturday’s tilt.
That means the Saints will have had back-to-back shortened work weeks, combined with two road trips, while the Seahawks will not have to face travel this week and had an extra day of rest last week compared to New Orleans.
