There is a chance that Matt Hasselbeck will be able to play in Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams that will decided the NFC West champion, coach Pete Carroll said in his just-completed day-after Q&A session.
But because of the uncertainty surrounding the Seahawks’ starting quarterback, the team will prepare this week as if backup Charlie Whitehurst will start in the nationally televised game from Qwest Field.
“Matt is absolutely determined to play in this game,” Carroll said of Hasselbeck, who had a MRI today.
But it’s not a given, because Hasselbeck injured his left hip while running for a 1-yard TD in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers in Tampa. Whitehurst replaced him and completed 11 of 18 passes for 66 yards.
