Surgery for Butler

Wide receiver Deon Butler will be placed on the injured reserve list after having surgery Sunday night to place a rod in his right leg that was broken during the Seahawks’ loss to the 49ers in San Francisco, coach Pete Carroll said in his just-completed day-after Q&A session.

The surgery was performed in the Bay Area and Butler will remain in the hospital for a few days, Carroll said, before he is allowed to return to Seattle.

Butler was injured while catching a 2-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ 40-21 loss to the 49ers at Candlestick Park.

Butler caught 36 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns this season.
