Special connections to the Bay Area
This weekend’s trip to San Francisco will be a homecoming of sorts for several Seahawks.
A combined 19 players, coaches and staffers have Bay Area ties, including three assistants who once played for the 49ers. Take a look at all of the Seahawks with northern California connections:
- Tailbacks Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, offensive guard Mike Gibson and tight end Cameron Morrah attended Cal
- Tailback Marshawn Lynch grew up in Oakland
- Offensive guard Mike Gibson grew up in Napa, Calif.
- Defensive tackle Amon Gordon attended Stanford
- Defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer was traded from the 49ers to the Seahawks in August
- Fullback Michael Robinson played four seasons for the 49ers before this year
- Defensive end Jay Richardson played the last three seasons in Oakland before signing with the Seahawks this season
- Coach Pete Carroll grew up in Marin County, attended University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., and coached for the 49ers
- Linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. played seven seasons for the 49ers
- Special teams assistant Jeff Ulbrich played 10 seasons for the 49ers
- Assistant defensive backs coach Kris Richard played one season for the 49ers
- Defensive line coach Dan Quinn coached four seasons for the 49ers
- Special teams coordinator Brian Schneider coached two seasons for the Raiders
- Tight ends coach Pat McPherson grew up in the Bay Area and played college football at Santa Clara. His father Bill worked more than 20 seasons for the 49ers
- Senior personnel executive Scot McCloughan worked in various personnel capacities for the 49ers for five seasons (2005-09)
- Football operations coordinator Matt Capurro worked 11 seasons for the Raiders
- Executive assistant to the head coach Dawn Beres worked for the 49ers for seven years
