Don’t miss today’s ceremony when Walter Jones’ retired No. 71 jersey will be added to those of Hall of Fame wide receiver Steve Largent (No. 80) and the Seahawks’ fans (No. 12) in the rafters at Qwest Field.
The ceremony will be held during the two-minute warning at the end of the first half.
The team retired Jones’ number in April, when he announced his retirement after 13 seasons, nine Pro Bowls and a spot on the NFL’s Team of the Decade for the 2000s. But today, his number will take its rightful place at Qwest.
“Getting your jersey retired is amazing,” Jones said on Wednesday. “To be the second guy to do that in this organization is great. It will always be remembered. Nobody can ever wear that number. So for that to happen and me to do it, it’s a great honor.”
