Kansas City connections

Other than their old AFC West connection, the Seahawks don’t have many ties to the Chiefs.

Coach Pete Carroll coached Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel at USC, when he backed up Heisman Trophy winners Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart. He eventually was switched to tight end — “shows you how much I know,” Carroll joked — and then drafted by the Patriots as a quarterback in the seventh round of the 2005 draft.

But the Seahawk with the only personal ties to Kansas City is general manager John Schneider, who was the Chiefs’ director of pro personnel in 1997-99.
