NEW ORLEANS — Much to the delight of the Seahawks, “Will the Thrill” made a surprise appearance during tonight’s team meeting.
To begin his speech, Coach Pete Carroll announced the acquisition of a new special teams player — Will “the Thrill” Ferrell, who was going to take over the spot of special teams captain Roy Lewis. The legendary comedian stormed into the meeting through the back of the room, shocking the Seahawks and igniting a chorus of laughter that seemingly didn’t end until he walked out five minutes later.
Ferrell’s bit also included a mocking of the team’s game day schedule in his trademark tone — “the late bus is for all the screw-ups,” he said with a straight face, inciting plenty of chuckles from his audience — before he walked out while screaming, “Mike Williams is back! He’s resurrected!”
Ferrell is in town visiting friends and is planning on being on the sidelines during Sunday’s game against the Saints. Carroll and Ferrell developed a friendship when the coach was at USC.
