The Seahawks expect to have quarterback Matt Hasselbeck in the lineup when the play the defending Super Bowl champion Saints in New Orleans on Sunday.
That was the word from coach Pete Carroll during his just-completed day-after Q&A session.
Hasselbeck cracked a bone in his left wrist during the first half of Sunday’s win over the Cardinals in Arizona. Additional tests today revealed a second crack from an old injury. But neither will require surgery or prevent Hasselbeck from playing, Carroll said.
“There’s no other finding than what we had last night,” Carroll said. “So he’ll be able to play this week.”
Hasselbeck completed 17 of 23 passes for a season-high 273 yards in the first half, before heading to the locker room to have his wrist tended to. He returned midway through the third quarter to finish the 36-18 victory. He was 22 of 34 for 333 yards overall, including a 63-yard TD pass to Deon Butler.
