Big plays for Big Mike
Mike Williams’ performance on Sunday in Arizona has earned him plenty of due praise and attention.
Eleven catches for 145 yards will do that.
But a closer look at the statbook will reveal his value even more, as five of Williams’ receptions came on third down and resulted in first downs. Matt Hasselbeck went 5-for-7 for 73 yards on passes directed to Williams on third down, meaning five of the Seahawks’ six third-down conversions in the game occurred thanks to the sticky hands of the 6-5 Williams.
“Mike made huge plays for us all game, and especially on third downs when we needed it the most,” Coach Pete Carroll said. “He’s become a very reliable option and you can tell Matt and his teammates really trust him in all situations.”
