Matt Hasselbeck did not participate when the Seahawks took to the practice field this afternoon. The team’s starting quarterback got a slight concussion in Sunday’s loss to the Raiders, but coach Pete Carroll said today during his midweek press conference that Hasselbeck should practice Thursday and be able to play in this week’s game against the New York Giants at Qwest Field.
Also expected to sit out: wide receiver Golden Tate (ankle), left tackle Russell Okung (ankle), wide receiver Mike Williams (thigh) and nose tackle Colin Cole (ankle). Cole could miss more than one game, Carroll said.
With Hasselbeck not practicing, backup Charlie Whitehurst will get the starter reps and practice-squad QB Zac Robinson will run the scout team that works against the Seahawks’ defense.
Cornerbacks Kelly Jennings (hamstring) and Walter Thurmond (concussion) are expected to practice after sitting out the game against the Raiders.
