The old college try

Quick trivia question: What schools have the most alumni on the Seahawks roster?

Answer: Cal and USC, two programs that combined to produce eight current Seahawks and two schools that just so happen to be facing off in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The pending matchup has cultivated loads of playful trash talk amongst the alumni of both programs, with three Trojans and five Golden Bears on the Seahawks 53-man roster.

“They’re going to get smashed, again, for the seventh straight year,” said wideout Mike Williams, a USC alum with Seattle, along with linebacker Lofa Tatupu and tight end Anthony McCoy. “We need to bounce back. The U-Dub guys got me good after their win a few weeks ago, so I need this one.”

The Cal guys — tailbacks Justin Forsett and Marshawn Lynch, offensive lineman Mike Gibson, tight end Cameron Morrah and defensive lineman Brandon Mebane — say they aren’t fazed by Williams’ jabber, the Trojans’ seven-year winning streak or the fact that their current coach was at the helm of the USC teams that beat the Golden Bears each time since a double-overtime thriller in 2003.

“I told Coach Carroll that I’ve got a Cal jersey for him when we win on Saturday,” Forsett said with a smile. “I’m confident. SC is down right now. We got this one.”
