It’s official, Chester Pitts has been re-signed. The veteran offensive lineman was released last Thursday because he was not ready to play in Sunday’s game against the Rams in St. Louis.
But coach Pete Carroll said at the time that Pitts remained in the team’s plans, as he continues his return from having microfracture knee surgery that ended his 2009 season with the Houston Texans.
“He’s been a diligent worker to get right and it just hasn’t been enough time for him yet,” Carroll said. “As soon as it does, we’re going to try to get him back out here.”
To clear a roster spot for Pitts, guard Evan Dietrich-Smith was released. The former Green Bay Packer had been signed on Sept. 5, but he was inactive for the Seahawks’ first four games.
