Perhaps more than the home and away inconsistency, Seattle’s turnover margin might be the true indicator of the team’s ability to win week-in and week-out — regardless of the locale.
In their two victories this season, the Seahawks were plus-1 and plus-3 in the turnover margin category, while they went minus-4 and minus-1 in their two losses. So far in 2010, a plus turnover margin has directly equated to a win, while a minus turnover margin has explicitly led to a loss.
While not as clear-cut, the turnover-to-win correlation is a league-wide trend, too. With tonight’s Monday Night game yet to be played, NFL teams with a plus or even turnover margin are 52-9 through the first four weeks of the season, good for an 85 percent winning percentage.
