The Seahawks and Sounders FC got a new president today, when Peter McLoughlin was introduced at a press conference at Virginia Mason Athletic Center.
But McLoughlin also considers himself the newest member of the 12th Man and Sounders faithful.
“Ultimately what brought me here to Seattle is the unbelievable fans for both the Seahawks and Sounders,” said McLoughlin, who spent the past six seasons as CEO of the St. Louis Blues of the NHL. “Consider me a new member of the 12th Man. I’m here to be a great fan of both teams.”
McLoughlin was at the Seahawks’ season opener against the 49ers two weeks ago and also attended the MLS Championship match at Qwest Field last season.
McLoughlin was introduced at the press conference by outgoing CEO Tod Leiweke, who was joined at the table by Bert Kolde, a member of the Seahawks’ board of direction and also the selection committee that decided on McLoughlin; and Seahawks general manager John Schneider.
We’ll be back later with more on McLoughlin.
