The nice-and-tidy breakdown of NFL teams’ records through the first two weeks of the season became a teaching point for Coach Pete Carroll during this morning’s team meeting.
With 16 teams at 1-1, eight teams at 0-2 and eight teams at 2-0, a majority of NFL teams aren’t satisfied with where they stand just two weeks into the season.
“Seventy-five percent of the league is not 2-0,” Carroll told his team. “Seventy-five percent of the league is not comfortable with their start.”
Carroll raised that concept to emphasize the importance of each and every game — starting with Sunday’s matchup against the Chargers, who also happen to be 1-1. The Seahawks, at .500 but sharing the top spot in the NFC West, look to maintain their position in the division with this weekend’s all-important “championship game,” as Carroll calls it.
“Are you willing to fight for another game to stay in first place?” Carroll asked rhetorically. “Of course we are.”
