The theme for today? Turnovers.
The goal for the offense and defense? “Own the day,” as Coach Pete Carroll said.
It’s Turnover Thursday at Virginia Mason Athletic Center today, with the focus entirely on the football — protecting it for the offense and taking it away for the defense. As always, this afternoon’s practice, which has been moved indoors because of the wet weather, is all about competition, as the offense tries to pitch a turnover shutout and the defense aims to record at least one takeaway during the workout.
The turnover concentration takes has even more value with the Seahawks coming off a plus-1 effort on Sunday, which helped create a 31-6 win. Also, turnovers carry extra importance when playing on the road because they can steal or give away momentum in a hostile environment.
“Taking care of the football wins games,” Coach Pete Carroll told his team this morning. “We’ve got to emphasize that today.”
