The Seahawks completed the trade for defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer this morning by releasing running back Adrian Peterson to clear a roster spot for the former first-round draft choice of the San Francisco 49ers.
The club also signed kicker Clint Stitser. To clear a roster spot, linebacker Alvin Bowen was released.
Stitser signed with the New York Jets in April, but was released in May. He was out of football in 2008 and 2009 after kicking four seasons at Fresno State (2003-07). Stitser provides a needed leg, because veteran Olindo Mare has been bothered by a sore calf.
Peterson was added to the roster last Thursday because of injuries at the running back position, while Bowen has been in camp since Aug. 7.
