Peephole perspective: Seahawks 10-7 at the half, thanks to a long field goal by Olindo Mare and an even longer TD pass from Charlie Whitehurst to Mike Williams.
Player of the quarter: Kevin Vickerson. The former Titans defensive tackle got after his ex-teammates to spark the Seahawks’ defensive effort. He was credited with only an assisted tackle in the quarter, but Vickerson had two solo stops in the first quarter and was disruptive on almost every snap he was on the field.
Play of the quarter: The 6-yard pass from Whitehurst to Williams that turned into a 51-yard TD, as Williams spun around cornerback Ryan Mouton at the Titans’ 44-yard line and was gone.
Line of the quarter: 4 of 10 for 25 yards. That was the Titans’ passing performance in the quarter, as the Seahawks pass rush turned up the heat on Simms. Sixteen of those yards came on a completion by the punter.
The bigger picture: The Seahawks got on the board on the second play of the quarter as Mare kicked a 44-yard field goal. The big play in the 8-play, 22-yard drive was Hasselbeck’s 10-yard pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh on the first snap.
The Titans broke out a little flim-flam on the next possession as punter Brett Kern passed to Ahmard Hall for 13 yards on fourth-and-3. But the defense held as defensive tackle Craig Terrill almost sacked Simms on third down to force a punt.
Whitehurst replaced Hasselbeck on the Seahawks’ next possession and threw the short pass that Williams turned into a long TD. Whitehurst also had a 10-yard completion to running back Quinton Ganther on the six-play, 82-yard drive, while Forsett also broke a 13-yard run.
The defense got another turnover on the Titans’ ensuing series as the center snapped the ball before Simms was ready on third down and linebacker Matt McCoy fell on the loose ball. The errant snap wasted a 46-yard run to the Seahawks 26 by Javon Ringer.
Whitehurst and Forsett moved the ball to the Titans’ 24 before Whitehurst’s third-down pass to Williams was intercepted by Mouton. Before the pick, Whitehurst passed to Forsett for 30 yards and wide receiver Ben Obomanu for 23.
