Sunday’s open practice at Husky Stadium will be more than just another practice.
Coach Pete Carroll has billed the workout as a “mock game,” as the Seahawks will run through all special teams scenarios and are scheduled to conduct a 60-play scrimmage-like session between the offense and defense. Players will don full pads and coaches will communicate via headsets, like they do in games.
The point of it all is to put the players and coaches in authentic situations so they’re more mentally and physically prepared for the first preseason game next Saturday at Qwest Field.
“We need to get jacked up to play full speed and up-tempo and have a really good day of football,” Carroll said. “It’ll help us immeasurably as we get ready for the games ahead.”
