Newly signed long snapper Clint Gresham got a crash course in the Pete Carroll School of Philosophy this morning.
The rookie snapper out of TCU, who was claimed off waivers from the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, arrived at Virginia Mason Athletic Center early today and was brought up to the football offices for an unofficial introduction to special teams coordinator Brian Schneider. And when Schneider and Gresham crossed paths with Carroll, the head coach beamed with excitement.
After all, there’s now a mano-a-mano battle for the long snapping duties, as Gresham will compete with incumbent snapper Matt Overton for the job.
“Is this our new guy?” Carroll asked senior personnel executive Scot McCloughan, before turning to Gresham. “The central theme of our program is competition. Let’s see what you got.”
