Happy anniversary, Seahawks

This isn’t just the club’s 35th season, today marks the anniversary of the first game in franchise history.

That’s right. To mangle the lyrics from that old Beatles’ tune, “It was 35 years ago today that …”

The Seahawks met the San Francisco 49ers in a preseason game at the Kingdome. The 49ers won, 27-20.

Jim Zorn was quarterback, and throwing passes to a couple of receivers named Steve – Largent and Raible. Sherman Smith, who now coaches the team’s running backs, was the running back.

While relishing all that is new this season, take a moment to remember when it all started.
