Early returns are in, and the results couldn’t be more positive.
On reporting day at Bing Training Camp, the Seahawks successfully completed their conditioning test this afternoon on the Virginia Mason Athletic Center practice fields, as all players passed with flying colors, head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle said.
“What this shows is that these guys know how to prepare,” Carlisle said minutes after he watched the players smoothly complete the 20-rep sprint test. “The energy was high, and I’m very pleased with their mindset.
“That was a huge first step.”
It all began — both the conditioning session and the whole preparation process for the 2010 season — with the players lined up along the north goal line and Carlisle bellowing, “Here we go, hand down!” A quick whistle later, and the new season was underway.
Emphasis on the “new.”
“There’s a big change here,” Carlisle said. “Many of the guys made tremendous weight losses and body fat changes.
“Coach Carroll gave them a challenge this offseason and they carried it through to today.”
