The Seattle Seahawks have claimed safety Kevin Ellison off waivers, the team announced this afternoon.
Ellison, San Diego’s sixth-round draft choice (189th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft, started nine of 13 games played last season for the Chargers, in addition to one start in the playoffs. He tallied 52 tackles (43 solo), one sack and three passes defensed as a rookie.
A four-year player at USC, he was a unanimous first-team All-Pac-10 choice his senior year, while also serving as team captain.
To make room on the roster, Seattle released defensive end Will Tukuafu.
