Pete Carroll took time this morning to delve into one of his all-time favorite mantras.
The head coach’s message is simple — control what you can control — yet the follow-through can be so very difficult. It plays itself out in meetings, workouts and especially practice, in which players determine exactly the amount of effort they’ll put in. Adding to his point, Carroll put a further focus on the smaller details of the game, such as alignments and line-of-scrimmage penalties, since those aren’t affected by the opponent, but entirely by the Seahawks.
“We’re the ones who control how good we are and how right we are,” Carroll told the players this morning. “Let’s take control and let’s not be just OK, but let’s be great.
“When we do that we totally empower ourselves.”
