Coach Pete Carroll credits John Wooden as one of the biggest mentors in his development as a coach, and they became friends during Carroll’s time in L.A. over the last nine years.
It’s no wonder, then, why Wooden’s passing has had a major impact on the Seahawks head coach. Today, Carroll published a short blog entry about the influence Wooden had on his growth as a coach.
“What you notice about the people who really rise up and stand out are that they have unusual drive and character,” Carroll writes in the blog entry. “Coach Wooden was the epitome of that. I’m forever blessed and fortunate to not only learn from him, but get to know him as a friend.”
