Mike Jones released
The Seahawks’ search for a bigger receiver to help their passing game no longer includes Mike Jones.
The club released him this afternoon. Jones (6-3, 221) joined the practice squad last November and then was signed to a future contract in January.
But the emergence of former USC wide receiver Mike Williams (6-5, 235), who was signed in April following a tryout at the team’s first minicamp, and the addition of Ruvell Martin (6-4, 220) in free agency made Jones expendable.
Jones played at Arizona State before signing with the Houston Texans after the 2009 NFL draft.
