While the Seahawks operation continues to rumble on at Virginia Mason Athletic Center, one part of the machine has settled into its annual summer-long hibernation.
Following the insanity of the draft and all the preparation leading up to it, the scouting department has gone all but dark — and will remain so until August or so.
“It’s pretty quiet after the draft,” pro scout Dale Thompson said.
Each year, scouts are on the road nonstop August through December and then most of the spring to visit pro days and prepare for the draft every April. With little to no time at home between August and April, the scouts get the three summer months off to be with their families.
