Walter Jones just concluded the news conference to announce his retirement from Seahawks after 13 seasons.
It was emotional, but also humorous, as Jones sat on the stage in the auditorium at Virginia Mason Athletic Center all by himself.
The nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle thanks a litany of people, from his former coaches and teammates to God – “For giving me the talent and strength to do the job for all these years,” as Jones put.
Asked about the stunning stat of allowing only 23 sacks, he cracked, “Most of those were the quarterback’s fault.”
Humble, yet humorous, to the end.
Check back later for more on Jones’ news conference.
