The slide of Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen has ended. The Carolina Panthers selected him with the 16th pick in the second round (No. 48 overall).
Clausen was projected to be a first-round pick, and many linked him to the Seahawks because coach Pete Carroll had recruited him while coaching at USC.
Clausen’s selection also bucked the trend in the second round, when 10 defensive players have gone in the first 16 picks.
