Nuggets from Schneider’s presser

The news conference to introduce John Schneider as the Seahawks’ general manager just concluded, and there were nuggets of news from Schneider, as well as coach Pete Carroll.

Schneider said that the personnel and scouting departments will remain intact, with Ruston Webster as vice president of player personnel and Will Lewis as director of pro personnel.

“Why would you change?” Schneider said after the news conference. “Look who’s already here. These are some great people who do a great job.”

As for Carroll’s coaching staff, the names have been out there, but nothing was official. Today, Carroll said that Jeremy Bates will be the offensive coordinator, Alex Gibbs the offensive line coach, Jedd Fisch will coach the quarterbacks and Pat McPherson the tight ends. On defense, coordinator Gus Bradley and line coach Dan Quinn will return, while Ken Norton will coach the linebackers and Jerry Gray the defensive backs. Brian Schneider is the new special teams coach.

We’ll be back later with more from the news conference and on Carroll’s staff.
