The NFL did its part to help with relief efforts in earthquake-ravaged Haiti by asking for contributions during its playoff games over the weekend, while the league and NFL Players Association have pledged $2.5 million to assist victims.
The Seahawks, meanwhile, are making a contribution to Medical Teams International in support of the organization’s relief efforts. MTI’s first team, which included two volunteer doctors and three registered nurses, arrived in Haiti on Friday. A second team left Sunday.
Fans are invited to make donations online at www.medicalteams.org, and more than 96 percent of the funds go directly to the program and services:
- A gift of $33 provides the medicines and supplies for an entire family during the critical days immediately following a major disaster.
- A gift of $66 funds one doctor’s clinical work for one day in Haiti.
- A gift of $2,000 funds one doctor’s clinical work for an entire month.
Medical Teams International is also now set up to accept text donations. If any of your friends or family would like to give $10 to Medical Teams for the Haiti disaster relief text HOPE to 253-83.
