The Seahawks will have the sixth pick overall in April’s NFL draft, the league office announced today.
They also have the Denver Broncos’ first-round pick, which will be No. 14 overall.
Last year, the sixth pick overall was tackle Andre Smith (by the Cincinnati Bengals), while the player taken at No. 14 was defensive back Malcolm Jenkins (by the New Orleans Saints).
The Seahawks were one of three teams to finish with a 5-11 record, but they get the higher pick because their strength of schedule (.477 winning percentage) is lower than either the Cleveland Browns (.512) or Oakland Raiders (.527) – who will pick seventh and eighth in the first round.
The St. Louis Rams hold the No. 1 pick, and will be followed by the Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Seahawks also will have a Top 10 pick in the second round.
