Strong safety Deon Grant will play in Sunday’s game against the Rams in St. Louis, with a cast to protect the damaged ligament in his hand and wrist.
That was the word from coach Jim Mora, who just completed his weekly Q&A session with reporters.
Mora was concerned Monday that the injury might prevent Grant from playing. But after seeing a hand specialist on Tuesday, it was determined that Grant will not need surgery at this time.
The cast will allow Grant to use his fingers and thumb, Mora said.
Grant, a defensive co-captain, ranks fourth on the team with 39 tackles.
