Seahawks punter Jon Ryan emerged from the weekend just as he entered it – second in the league in average (49.9). But his net average took a couple of hits, as the Cardinals’ Steve Breaston returned two of Ryan’s eight punts for 36 and 24 yards. So his net is now 41.4, down from 43.0 last week – and he dipped from No. 3 in the league to No. 5 in that category.
Kicker Olindo Mare had his league-leading 11th touchback on the opening kickoff against the Cardinals. Mare tied for second in the league last season with 22.
Defensive end Patrick Kerney had two sacks in the first half, before sitting out the second half against the Cardinals after aggravating a strained groin. He now shares the team lead with Lawrence Jackson, and together they have half the team’s 16 sacks. Kerney has 11½ sacks in his past six games against the Cardinals.
The five sacks Matt Hasselbeck absorbed against the Cardinals were not a career high. Hasselbeck was sacked 13 times in back-to-back games in 2001, his first season with the Seahawks. The Eagles got to him a career-high seven times in Week 2 and then he went down six times to next week against the Raiders.
