The Seahawks are the Pro-Am sponsor of this week’s Boeing Classic PGA Senior Tour event at TPC Snoqualmie, and pro Bruce Fleisher turned up at the VMAC to watch the team practice and to engage a few players in some golf.
After watching the team practice for nearly two hours, Fleisher brought out some wedges for a little closest-to-the-pin contest with a few of the Seahawks players.
Safeties Brian Russell and Jordan Babineaux, along with kicker Olindo Mare stepped up to challenge Fleisher. All three football players are accomplished golfers, and Babineaux won a similar contest last year.
As the media filmed, and other players gawked from the training room, the four took turns hitting balls at a flag 80 yards away.
Seahawks safety Brian Russell listens intently as Senior PGA Tour pro Bruce Fleisher imparts some advice before a closest-to-the-pin contest at the VMAC after practice.
Who needs golf pants or spikes when you have football pants and cleats? Olindo Mare hits a wedge some 80 yards out onto the practice field.
Jordan Babineaux shows off the form that won him last year’s closest-to-the-pin contest.
Linebacker Lofa Tatupu was one of the players watching the golf exhibition from the safety of the training room.
Olindo Mare celebrates winning the contest with a shot that landed 10-feet from the pin. After receiving a dozen golf balls as a prize, he mockingly hoisted his “trophy” into the air.
