A recap of the day’s activities:
Justin Forsett. Coach Pete Carroll has answered one question by naming Justin Forsett the starting running back for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers at Qwest Field. But the still-much-asked question about who will be the starter remains unanswered – and might for a while.
“I wouldn’t read into this too deeply because the competition for this position will remain,” Carroll said, in almost the same breath he used to name Forsett the Week 1 starter. “We have really good guys battling at this spot. I expect Julius (Jones) and Leon (Washington) to be part of this game plan and be in there getting some work so that we could continue to evaluate.
“It would be nice to have it set in stone and all that for everybody that doesn’t feel comfortable with this, but I’m absolutely not uncomfortable with this situation. It’s a situation I’ve been in for years with tailbacks (at USC) and we’re going to try to draw out the very best that we can from our guys. If a guy gets hot in a game, he’s staying.”
