A look at some memorable moments in Seahawks history that occurred on April 22:

1990: The Seahawks trade up to the third spot in the first round of the NFL Draft and select defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy. He would be voted to eight Pro Bowls and named NFL Defensive Player of the Year (1992) during his career, and last year the most-decorated defensive player in franchise history was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor in 2006, had his No. 96 retired last season and was voted the franchise’s 35th Anniversary team.

1995: Joey Galloway is selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Galloway would lead the Seahawks in receptions for three consecutive seasons (1996-98) and catch 37 touchdown passes before being traded to the Cowboys for a pair of first-round draft choices in 2000.

2008: Shaun Alexander, the franchise’s all-time leading rusher, is released. After being named league MVP and leading the NFL in rushing with 1,880 yards in 2005, injuries limited Alexander to fewer than 1,000 rushing yards in 2006 and 2007.

2010: Russell Okung and Earl Thomas are selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Okung, a left tackle and the sixth pick overall, started 15 games in 2012 and was voted to the Pro Bowl. Thomas, a free safety and the 14th pick overall, was voted Al-Pro last season and has played in the Pro Bowl the past two seasons.

1984: Dan Doornink carries the ball 29 times for 126 yards as the Seahawks rush for 205 yards in handing the defending Super Bowl champion Raiders a 13-7 loss in a wild-card playoff game at the Kingdome. Dave Krieg, who completes only 4 of 10 passes, throws 26 yards to Daryl Turner for the Seahawks’ only touchdown. The defense shuts out the Raiders until midway through the fourth quarter as it sacks Jim Plunkett six times, including 2.5 by Jacob Green, and intercepts him twice.

1991: The Seahawks win their final game under coach Chuck Knox, 29-9, over the Rams in the season finale at the Kingdome as James Jones runs for two touchdowns. Knox would return to the Rams as their coach in 1992.

1996: Michael McCrary registers four sacks, Lamar Smith runs for two touchdowns and Joey Galloway catches a 32-yard TD pass from Gino Torretta as the Seahawks rally for a 28-21 victory over the Raiders in Oakland. The sack barrage in the season finale allows McCray to finish with an AFC-leading 13½.

2002: Shaun Alexander runs for two touchdowns, Matt Hasselbeck passes for 303 yards, Rian Lindell kicks three field goals, Reggie Tongue intercepts two passes and Anthony Simmons has 11 tackles and an interception in a 30-10 victory over the Rams in Seattle.

1986: Dave Krieg passes for four touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, in outdueling Dan Fouts during a 34-24 victory over the Chargers in San Diego that is part of a five-game winning streak to close the season. Krieg completes 15 of 21 passes for 305 yards and his TD passes went to Steve Largent (two), Darryl Turner (72 yards) and Ray Butler.

1997: Todd Peterson kicks a 49-yard field goal with 2:20 remaining in a 22-21 victory over the Raiders in Oakland. Peterson’s kick caps a 19-point second half for the Seahawks, who trailed 21-3 at halftime. In his first NFL start, Jon Kitna completes 23 of 37 passes – to 10 receivers – for 283 yards and throws an 8-yard TD pass to Joey Galloway.

2003: Shaun Alexander runs for 126 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown, but the Rams hang on for a 27-22 victory in St. Louis.

2006: Frank Gore runs for 144 yards and Alex Smith passes for two touchdowns as the 49ers beat the Seahawks in a Thursday night game in Seattle that is preceded by heavy rain and followed by high winds, a combination that causes power outages throughout the region.

2008: Olindo Mare kicks a 27-yard field goal as time expires to give the Seahawks a 23-20 victory over the Rams in St. Louis. Mare also kicks 50- and 28-yarders, while Jordan Babineaux returns a fumble 24 yards for a TD.
