1984: Dan Doornink carries the ball 29 times for 126 yards as the Seahawks rush for 205 yards in handing the defending Super Bowl champion Raiders a 13-7 loss in a wild-card playoff game at the Kingdome. Dave Krieg, who completes only 4 of 10 passes, throws 26 yards to Daryl Turner for the Seahawks’ only touchdown. The defense shuts out the Raiders until midway through the fourth quarter as it sacks Jim Plunkett six times, including 2.5 by Jacob Green, and intercepts him twice.

1991: The Seahawks win their final game under coach Chuck Knox, 29-9, over the Rams in the season finale at the Kingdome as James Jones runs for two touchdowns. Knox would return to the Rams as their coach in 1992.

1996: Michael McCrary registers four sacks, Lamar Smith runs for two touchdowns and Joey Galloway catches a 32-yard TD pass from Gino Torretta as the Seahawks rally for a 28-21 victory over the Raiders in Oakland. The sack barrage in the season finale allows McCray to finish with an AFC-leading 13½.

2002: Shaun Alexander runs for two touchdowns, Matt Hasselbeck passes for 303 yards, Rian Lindell kicks three field goals, Reggie Tongue intercepts two passes and Anthony Simmons has 11 tackles and an interception in a 30-10 victory over the Rams in Seattle.

1981: Dave Krieg passes for three touchdowns, including two to Steve Largent, as the Seahawks close the season with a 42-21 win over the Browns at the Kingdome. Rookie safety Kenny Easley leads the defensive effort with two interceptions, returning one 82 yards for a score; and Greggory Johnson returns a Michael Jackson-forced fumble 31 yards for another score. Jackson also has 16 tackles and sack.

1985: In a Friday night game at the Kingdome, Norm Johnson hits the right upright on a 52-yard field goal on the final play as the Broncos win 27-24 behind a 432-yard passing performance by John Elway.

1986: In a Saturday afternoon game at the Kingdome, Curt Warner runs for 192 yards and three touchdowns and Dave Krieg throws two TD passes to Daryl Turner as the Seahawks close their season with a 41-16 victory over the Broncos. Steve Largent also catches six passes for 101 yards. The Seahawks finish with 10-6 record, including victories over both teams that advance to the Super Bowl (the Broncos and Giants), but do not make the playoffs.

1987: Curt Warner runs for two touchdowns, Dave Krieg passes for two more and John L. Williams catches eight passes for 117 yards in a 34-21 victory over the Walter Payton-led Bears in Chicago. Eugene Robinson leads the defensive effort with two interceptions and 11 tackles, while rookie Brian Bosworth has two fumble recoveries and a sack.

1992: Loss No. 13 in the Seahawks’ 2-14 season comes in Denver, as Gaston Green scores the only touchdown in the Broncos’ 10-6 win at Mile High Stadium. The defense intercepts John Elway three times and forces three fumbles, while Chris Warren runs for 97 yards in the loss.

1998: The Seahawks score 17 points in the final 10 minutes to pull out a 27-23 victory over the Colts at the Kingdome, as Ricky Watters has a 33-yard touchdown run, Shawn Springs returns a fumble 14 yards for a TD and Todd Peterson kicks a 30-yard field goal. Watters finishes with 178 rushing yards in Dennis Erickson final home game as coach of his hometown NFL team.

2009: The Buccaneers score 24 unanswered points in a 24-7 victory over the Seahawks in Seattle. Matt Hasselbeck passes 29 yards to John Carlson for the Seahawks’ only points, but also throws four interceptions.

1986: Dave Krieg passes for four touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, in outdueling Dan Fouts during a 34-24 victory over the Chargers in San Diego that is part of a five-game winning streak to close the season. Krieg completes 15 of 21 passes for 305 yards and his TD passes went to Steve Largent (two), Darryl Turner (72 yards) and Ray Butler.

1997: Todd Peterson kicks a 49-yard field goal with 2:20 remaining in a 22-21 victory over the Raiders in Oakland. Peterson’s kick caps a 19-point second half for the Seahawks, who trailed 21-3 at halftime. In his first NFL start, Jon Kitna completes 23 of 37 passes – to 10 receivers – for 283 yards and throws an 8-yard TD pass to Joey Galloway.

2003: Shaun Alexander runs for 126 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown, but the Rams hang on for a 27-22 victory in St. Louis.

2006: Frank Gore runs for 144 yards and Alex Smith passes for two touchdowns as the 49ers beat the Seahawks in a Thursday night game in Seattle that is preceded by heavy rain and followed by high winds, a combination that causes power outages throughout the region.

2008: Olindo Mare kicks a 27-yard field goal as time expires to give the Seahawks a 23-20 victory over the Rams in St. Louis. Mare also kicks 50- and 28-yarders, while Jordan Babineaux returns a fumble 24 yards for a TD.

1979: The Seahawks run for three touchdowns and Steve Largent catches nine passes for 120 yards, but it’s a too-little-too-late effort as the Chiefs take a 37-7 lead and hold on for a 37-21 victory at Arrowhead Stadium.

1984: The Seahawks cap an eight-game winning streak with a 38-17 victory over the Lions at the Kingdome as Dave Krieg passes for a club-record five touchdowns, including two each to Steve Largent and Daryl Turner.

1951 – Coach Pete Carroll is born in San Francisco. After stints in the NFL and college football, Carroll became the eighth head coach in Seahawks history when he was hired on Jan. 11, 2010.

1985 – Dave Krieg throws a club-record five touchdown passes and Daryl Turner catches a club-record four TD passes in a wild 49-35 victory over the Chargers in San Diego. The Seahawks need it all, as Dan Fouts passes for 440 yards and four TDs and Wes Chandler catches 13 passes for 243 yards for the Chargers. The Chargers generate 557 yards of total offense, the Seahawks 489.

2002 – In the first regular-season game at CenturyLink Field/Seahawks Stadium, the Seahawks lose to the Cardinals 24-13. Thomas Jones paces the Cardinals with 173 rushing yards, including a 58-yard TD run, to offset a 10-catch, 174-yard performance by Darrell Jackson.
