Penn State defensive tackle Jordan Hill drafted in third round

With their second pick in the second day of the NFL Draft, the Seahawks addressed a need this evening by selecting Penn State defensive tackle Jordan Hill.

Jordan Hill

The Seahawks needed depth at the position because Alan Branch and Jason Jones, the starter at the three-technique spot in the base and nickel defenses last season, left in free agency this offseason. Although a bit light, Hill has good lateral quickness and quick feet.

It was last year that the Seahawks found quarterback Russell Wilson in the third round, and in previous drafts the third round has yielded nose tackle Brandon Mebane (2007), linebacker Leroy Hill (2005), wide receiver Darrell Jackson (2000), Pro Bowl linebacker Fredd Young (1984) and linebacker Michael Jackson (1979).
