The Seahawks will open their 2013 preseason in a familiar setting, as they face the Chargers in San Diego on the weekend of Aug. 8-11. The Seahawks also have a nationally televised game in Week 3 against the Packers in Green Bay on Aug. 23.
Their home games are against the Broncos (Aug. 15-19), led by Peyton Manning; and Raiders (Aug. 29-30), and just-traded quarterback Matt Flynn.
The exact dates will be announced later.
This will be the fourth time in the past seven summers that the Seahawks open against the Chargers in San Diego. They also did it in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
One of the best things about the preseason schedule being announced? It means the release of the regular-season schedule by the league is coming soon – with a home schedule for the Seahawks that will include games against the 49ers, Saints, Vikings and Jaguars, who are now coached by former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
Last year, the Seahawks went undefeated in the preseason (4-0) for only the second time in franchise history. But unlike 2009, when they followed a 4-0 preseason with a 5-11 regular season in Jim Mora’s only season as coach, the 2012 Seahawks went 11-5 in the regular season.
