Head coach Pete Carroll was in KIRO Radio 97.3 FM studios Wednesday afternoon on “The Dori Monson Show” to talk about the announcement of Seattle’s “We Day” lineup, when the coach’s segment took a rare backseat to a bit of breaking news out of Vatican City.
The cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church announced the election of Jesuit Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina as the 266th pope. Coach Carroll offered up a bit of commentary as the news came down, including some spot-on analysis when asked by host Dori Monson who he was rooting for as the newest papal.
“Well, we want a Catholic to get this,” Carroll said. “If we can get a Catholic we’re in great shape here.”
