In a nutshell: Seahawks 14-7. The Seahawks turned the ball over on the first play of the quarter, as Marshawn Lynch fumbled. But Richard Sherman made sure the Jets didn’t score when he intercepted Mark Sanchez’s third-down pass near the goal line. The Seahawks took the lead when Lynch scored on a 1-yard run with 2:04 left in the half. The Seahawks got the ball at the Jets’ 42-yard line when Kam Chancellor recovered a muffed punt by Jeremy Kerley.
Player of the quarter: Sherman. In addition to his timely, point-saving pick, the second-year cornerback also broke up Sanchez’s third-down pass to Clyde Gates on the Jets’ next possession.
Play of the quarter: Sherman’s interception, on a pass Sanchez was trying to get to tight end Dustin Keller. Sherman read the third-and-goal pass from the 6 and jumped it to save at least three points.
Number of the quarter: 4. As in a forlorn four, as the Jets’ four possessions after their TD return of a Wilson fumble ended in two turnovers and two three-and-outs.
